you're right, this is what happens indeed. So my question was more like, is there a reason to keep jobs and pods once they are completed?

the only reason to keep around is that the pod logs can be helpful to debug issues, and the logs are removed when you delete the job/pod objects
so keeping them around for a couple days can be helpful
