See screenshot, If I select only one downstream asset to materialize, dagster will complains about missing upstream materializations. However, I believe dagster should be able to figure out all its upstream and materialize for me, instead of I having to shift+click each of its upstream and materialize all?

to confirm, when you see this error, has the upstream asset with the same partition been materialized?

No.
Is there a way for me to only specify the final asset?

I think this is about the context through which you materialize an asset. In this view, it is expecting you only want to materialize the asset in question. If you go to any of the Lineage views, you can select "Materialize Stale and Missing" for whole or part of the graph and you can automatically limit it to upstream, downstream, or nearest neighbors.

Why "materialize stale and missing" is grey?
